In early 2024, Flock Drone Art Studio launched a contest on social media, offering a totally FREE drone show as a prize. The unity and commitment of its inhabitants made a small Asturian town the winner, CANGAS DEL NARCEA.
In June of the same year, we made our promise come true: to offer the expected show to its people. This was the result! A year later, we remember, through the documentary video we made, that beautiful moment when it became something more than a drone show.
“The participation of the people of Cangas has exceeded all our expectations,” said Fran Arnau, CEO of Flock Drone Art Studio, who explained at the time how the involvement in the competition of APESA (Association of Small Business Owners and Self-Employed Workers of Southwestern Asturias), making calls through their social networks to participate, had been able to mobilize a large part of the population.
APESA President, Héctor Díaz, expressed his conviction that this event “will not only be a moment of wonder and delight for all spectators, but will also open new doors and opportunities for the economic and tourist growth of Cangas del Narcea.”
More than 2,600 Instagram and Tik Tok users participated in this contest, with more than 120,000 views of the posts. In total, 210 Spanish towns participated in the contest, and among the finalists, in addition to the winner, Sant Andreu de la Barca, Almansa, Cerezo de Abajo and Briviesca stood out in terms of the number of comments. All of them received the most mentions, but the organization highlights the broad support that Cangas del Narcea's candidacy has aroused, with a significant number of residents of the municipality turning to their support on social networks.
“It is inspiring to see how the union of a people can achieve great things, and we are looking forward to witnessing this very special spectacle in our beloved Cangas del Narcea,” said Alba Garcia, Councillor for Festivities in Cangas.
The drone show became something more than just a spectacle of 200 drones. It was the union of a town, of each and every one of the inhabitants with the same objective: to spend a great day within the framework of the Festival de Brasas. The adrenaline of the moment led to a great event.
